Where We've Been . . . Where We're
Going
Ministering to Ministers
-
Fifty-six persons participated in the five Wellness Retreats during 1998. If financial resources permit, we will have eight retreats in 1999.
-
Receipts for 1998 totaled $70,535 compared to $63,432 in 1997. That is an 11.2 percent increase.
-
Wellness Retreat co-sponsorships have been developed with Carson-Newman College, Jefferson City, TN; Samford University, Birmingham, AL; the Tennessee Baptist Convention, and the Texas Baptist General Convention.
-
The Baptist General Association of Virginia placed MTM in its 1999 budget for 1% of its Budget Tract Two which will be about $18,000 for retreat scholarships to Virginia Baptist ministers and spouses.
-
Dr. John Carpenter is working part time, about 30 hours a month, for MTM. He will be planning and testing events for raising funds to help God's wounded messengers. He can be reached at 120 East Wedgewood Drive Yorktown, VA 23693 or the MTM office. Do you have an idea for him?
-
A major need is dollars to underwrite a work transition program. This program would help wounded ministers, who are seeking to enter the business market, translate their skills to marketable assets. This would call for a staff person to develop and direct this new phase of the MTM ministry. Finding jobs to support their families is a major concern for displaced ministers.
-
MTM will make stronger efforts in 1999 to develop partnerships with more denominations.
