Comments from a recent Wellness Retreat participant
I came to the retreat more in need of help than I realized. Time spent with the team of professionals as well as with my peers was revitalizing in several ways.
Telling my story in a supportive group helped me look at myself and my experience differently. Just as helpful was hearing the stories of the other participants. I came to the retreat with my self-esteem pretty much decimated. One of my many results was the affirmation of me as a person. I felt affirmed by both the group and God. I left with my head held high for the first time in months. Along with this came a renewal of hope. This has continued.
Another important contribution was the Myers-Briggs personal assessment. I am continuing to process this as I consider the future.
The contribution of Dr. Ross Campbell was very significant to me. I have followed his recommendation regarding antidepressant medication and am pleased with the results. I have suspected my need for help in this area for some months, but had not and probably would not have acted on my own. Dr. Campbells insights in dealing with anger and understanding persons with sociopath tendencies were invaluable.
I appreciated the practical information and counsel given by Dr. Charles Chandler and Dr. Norvie Lay. I only wish I had received this instruction before I resigned!
Developing friendships within the group during meal times enhanced the healing environment. Im glad we didnt "dismiss" and go our separate way at those times.
The spiritual components helped me reaffirm the importance and value of keeping the spiritual fires burning.
Thank you for this much needed ministry to ministers. God bless!
