A Hearty Welcome to Four New MTM Trustees

BEVERLY G. BUSTON, PH.D.

Beverly comes to us with thirty-six years of marriage that has produced three grown children and one grandchild. Beverly also comes to us with multiple gifts and training in the field of psychology. She earned her B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is currently in a private practice of consultation, assessment and training with churches, church systems, schools, and private corporations. Her services include leadership training, organizational development, and multicultural training.

She is also a visiting Professor at the Presbyterian School of Christian Education/Union Theological Seminary, teaching courses on Pastoring Marriages and Families and Pastoral Responses to Sexual Issues.

Beverly is a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia.


W. MICHAEL CHITTUM, PH.D.

Michael lives with his wife, Vicki, in Wichita, Kansas where he is the senior minister of the Plymouth Congregational Church. Michael has pastored churches in Alabama, Kentucky, and Virginia. In addition, he has been an instructor at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Bellarmine College in Louisville. Early on in his career he taught math and sciences in public and private high schools.

Michael serves on The Institutional Review Board for the University of Kansas Medical School. He is also a member of the Faith and HIV group through the Care Coordination Team in Wichita.


JOHN A. THOMASON, M.DIV.

Hospital chaplain, pastor and father of two daughters, Kate and Beth, John is pastor of St. John's United Methodist Church in Texas City, Texas. A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, John is married to Nita Newman Thomason, an ordained elder and associate pastor at Bay Harbor United Methodist Church in League City, Texas.

John received his M.Div. degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and did further graduate work in Christian theology at Oxford University and the University of Chicago Divinity School. More recently, John completed four years of training in Clinical Pastoral Education, including two years as a supervisor in training. His pastoral care specialties are grief and addiction recovery.

His prior ministry includes pastorates in Illinois, Mississippi and Texas.


CLIFFORD R. OVIATT, JR., LLB

Clifford Oviatt is a retired partner of McGuire Woods' Washington, D. C. law office but continues to serve as a consultant of the firm on labor and other matters. He has engaged in the practice of labor law in Connecticut since 1958 and after that in Washington with his present firm. He specializes in the representation of management in unionized and non-organized operations throughout the United States.

From 1989 to 1993, Clifford was a member of the National Labor Relations Board as an appointee of President George Bush.

He was educated at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT where he received a BA degree in History and at Cornell Law school in Ithaca, NY where he received a LLB degree. A Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, Clifford is a member of the Developing Labor Law Committee of the Labor Law Section of the America Bar Association.

In his spare time - all retired folks have lots of that -- he hangs his hat in Hilton Head, SC. He is senior warden at All Saints Episcopal Church in Hilton Head. He is also the first former MTM Trustee to begin a second tenure, having been a charter trustee.
