About Us

Ministering to Ministers (MTM) Foundation, Inc. serves individual ministers, their families and church organizations. The Foundation is an advocate for ministers and their families in all faith groups who are experiencing personal or professional crisis due to deteriorating employment or congregation-minister relationships. It works as a mediator to reunite minister and congregation when resolution of issues is needed. Ministering to Ministers strives to develop church-minister relations in the beginning stages of their relationship, promoting strong communication before conflict arises.

The Foundation, a non-profit corporation, was created in 1994 by a group of ministers who had experienced involuntary separation from their congregation, along with interested lay persons. As they discussed their circumstances and needs, the mission of the Foundation began to take shape.

When a minister is involuntarily separated from his or her church, both church and minister are damaged and the joy of the gospel is dampened. C.A.R.E. became the purpose of the Foundation.

Communicating ... The Education and Communication Division shows ministers, churches, and denominations ways to improve church-ministers relations through building strong initial foundations, healthy dispute resolutions and mediation.

Advocating ... The Dispute Resolution Division develops church-minister convenants which outline procedures in the event of separation. These covenants are adopted by ministers and churches as tenures begin. It also offers resources for negotiation on behalf of the minister when work continuation is not possible.

Reclaiming ... The Personal Wellness Division offers spiritual and emotional support for ministers and their spouses who experience involuntary separation. From “Healthy Transitions Wellness Retreats for Ministers and Spouses” to family enrichment seminars to physical fitness encouragement, the Foundation offers a network of recovery assistance programs.

Equipping ... The Assistance Division seeks to discover agencies and/or programs available to ministry recipients for career assessment and job placement possibilities.  It seeks to discover sources for possible emergency funds to assist those without adequate compensation during this crisis.  It also attemps to identify employers and agencies that offer potential employment opportunities or new ministries for displaced clergy.

The Ministering to Ministers Foundation is financed through gifts from individuals, businesses, churches, denominations, and foundations. Though the Foundation cooperates with many denominations, it is not a denominational agency.

The Foundation appreciates contributions made on behalf of vocational ministers as they seek to further God's kingdom. Please continue to pray for them and this ministry.

God has called out leaders among us to evangelize, teach and serve His people. These men and women are dedicated to ministering to others within their church and community during times of stress and crisis. But where can these servants go for counsel, prayer and support when they experience difficult situations?
